Our Mission
WordCounterAI was built with a simple mission: to give everyone free access to high-quality writing analysis tools without the friction of sign-ups, premium paywalls, or intrusive interfaces.
Word count tools seem simple, but they sit at the heart of so much important writing work. Students checking their essay lengths before submission. Bloggers optimising their article length for search. Journalists staying within brief. Content marketers checking keyword density. Social media managers trimming posts to fit platform limits. We built WordCounterAI to serve all of these use cases with one clean, fast, private tool.
What Makes WordCounterAI Different
Most word counter tools are either too basic (just a word count, nothing more) or too complicated (buried in a larger writing app you don't need). WordCounterAI sits squarely in the middle: a focused, professional tool suite with everything you actually need â words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading time, readability score, and keyword density â all on fast, clean pages that load instantly.
The "AI" in our name reflects our direction. We are building towards a full suite of AI-powered writing tools â grammar checking, paraphrasing, summarisation, and more â powered by cutting-edge language models. The core counting tools you use today are the foundation of that roadmap.
Our Tools
Phase 1 of WordCounterAI includes the following free tools, all fully functional with no limitations:
- Word Counter â count words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, reading time, speaking time, unique words, and more
- Character Counter â count characters with and without spaces, letters, digits, special characters, and check against platform limits
- Sentence Counter â count sentences and analyse writing structure including average sentence length
- Readability Checker â calculate Flesch Reading Ease score and Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level
- Keyword Density Checker â analyse which words appear most frequently and their density percentage
- Words to pages reference tables for 500, 1,000, 1,500, and 2,000 words
More tools â including AI-powered grammar checking, a paraphrasing tool, a text summariser, and case conversion utilities â are on the roadmap for future phases.

We take your privacy seriously. All text processing happens entirely within your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never transmitted to our servers, never stored, and never logged.
